Projects:
Increase Shipping Capacity: Fontana, CA
BOC Group was engaged to increase the shipping capacity of an existing facility from 100 pieces per minute to 150 pieces per minute while providing added operational flexibility. BOC Group completed the design, formulated the RFP, provided recommendation for suppliers and integrator, and managed the project through system testing. The project required the BOC Group design team and the BOC Group project management team to work closely together with the client as the expansion efforts had to take place while operations continued.
Real Estate Utilization: Redlands, CA
BOC Group designed a 100 piece per minute sortation system in a very compact footprint, setting a new bar for space utilization within the clients network of facilities. The system included not only automation for typical parcels, it included special accommodations for very large parcels and/or irregular parcels such as coffee tables, tire, mufflers, etc. The system also included additional functionalities for very small parcels such as jewelry items, small parts, etc. BOC Group completed the design and prepared the documents that were used by the client for supplier/integrator selection.
Automated Small Parcel Sorter Deployment: multiple locations
BOC Group created a Request for Information (RFI) which was used to survey various automation suppliers for information and details regarding small parcel sortation. The information gathered from the RFI was used to create a Request for Quote (RFQ). Multiple bids were evaluated and BOC Group made a recommendation to the clients leadership team. The client acted upon the recommendation and asked BOC Group to mange the deployment of two systems, each in a different location. The client is currently evaluating two more deployments.
System Evaluation:
Las Vegas, NV
BO Group was engaged to evaluate an automated sorting system in Las Vegas. The system had and inordinate number of smaller parcels. BOC Group was asked to evaluate an automated sortation system. BOC Group completed designs for both an automated and manual sortation solution. The client is evaluating the two options for pending deployment.
Design/Build: Reno, NV
This was a design build project in which BOC Group was involved from day one. The client invested approximately $35 million in the +/- 200,000 sq ft automated facility with a combined office and warehouse staff of nearly 300 personnel. BOC Group created the initial designs, supported client through the RFP process, led technical contract negotiations, and supported the clients project management team on the implementation. BOC Group led the testing and punch list efforts required to close out one of the clients most successful deployments ever.
E-Commerce 3PL Systems: multiple locations
BOC Group was engaged by a major system integrator to support the design efforts for an automated system to be used by one of the largest e-commerce shipping providers in the world. BOC Group’s creative design approach provided the integrator key advantages in the design. These same advantages reduced the overall investment requirements while increasing the systems efficiency at the same time. The solution is capable of sorting up to 50,000 pieces per hour or 833 pieces per minute. The unique design approach not only reduced the investment, but also reduced the building space required, thus further improving the return on the end users investment.
